Basic training and fundamental clinical background was obtained at the California Institute of Integral Studies (CIIS) in 2006.  At CIIS, learning drew on major spiritual traditions of the East and West and innovations by humanistic, systemic, and transpersonal psychologies.  Compassion, authenticity, and empathy were emphasized to help foster a warm, relatable approach to the client and therapy.

I integrate this holistic approach with scientific or evidenced-based interventions, learned and applied during 10 years of experience in a community health setting at Asian Americans for Community Involvement (AACI) and the Santa Clara County Mental Health Department.

10 years of experience includes serving a diverse population of all ages, most ethnicities, and most major psychological issues and participating in regular trainings and supervision from local professionals with decades of experience.  I helped children, adolescents, and adults improve their wellness, recover their functioning, and reduce problematic symptoms.

Finally, I also draw from related experiences to help me work effectively with adolescents, young adults, and families.   I have worked as a middle school teacher, children's outdoor education instructor, child and adolescent alpine ski instructor, community organizer on public health issues, and program manager.
